Picnic chocolate applesauce cake

     1/2 c  Shortening
   1 1/2 c  Sugar
       2 lg Eggs
       2 c  Applesauce
       2 c  Flour
       3 tb Cocoa
       2 ts Soda
     1/2 ts Salt
     1/2 ts Cinnamon
            Topping:
       3 tb Sugar
     1/2 c  Chocolate chips
     1/2 c  Nuts; chopped

     Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and beat well. Add
   applesauce. Sift dry ingredients and add to creamed
   mixture. Pour into a greased 9 x 13" baking pan. Sprinkle
   with sugar, chocolate chips and nuts. Bake 350 for 40 min.
